The Latest Music Empowers Foundation Grant Goes To Piano Outreach of New York (PONY)
NEW YORK, July 15, 2013 – This week, the Music Empowers Foundation announced the renewal of its annual grant to Piano Outreach of New York (PONY). PONY provides piano instruction and other music education to economically disadvantaged children throughout the New York metropolitan area.
PONY used last year’s Music Empowers’ grant monies to fund a combination of over thirty full and partial semester long scholarships for piano classes.
This year’s Music Empowers grant will be used to fund full and partial scholarships to PONY’s new group songwriting classes. These courses will introduce students to the basic concepts of song structure and guide them in writing their own songs, which will be proudly performed at PONY’s annual spring recital.
“We are always looking to make our programs more appealing to more kids, so we are very excited to be introducing songwriting classes in many schools,” explained Vera Anselmo, Founder of PONY. “And of course, we are very grateful for this year’s Music Empowers grant as it allows us to offer this new program to children in economic need at little or no cost.”
